Blessings for 2013

Today is a new start and I am restarting my blog. I will post to it my thoughts, blessings and pagan ways. I will no longer remain the the proverbial broom closet. This year is going to be my wishes, my will and my ways. They are ancient ways and I hope that each of my brothers and sisters will join me on this trek.

Dolls

There have been dolls used in magic for a very, very long time. Contrary to the Hollywood voodoo doll, these dolls were primarily used for love spells and healing. This is known as image magic and should be used with caution. This form of magic is accomplished through very strong visualization and will virtually bond the sender with the receiver like a puppet on a string. Your intentions must be very clear. Just remember that knowledge is one of the four corners of the witches pyramid. If you are unsure, then it is better not to try until such time as you acquire the knowledge. Blessed Be. FW

Beltane

Blessed be your Beltane. Merry May Day. This is our holy sabbat. We are at the halfway mark. On this day the lady and the lord will conceive the sun-child. Gather your flowers and give praise. It is a day of conception where rules do not apply. This holy day is one that Christians failed to adapt in any form due to its sexual nature. The frolic maypole dance is still preformed in Ireland and other countries.

Brigid's eternal flame burns bright.
She shall bring us out of winter's night;
with the promise of a new spring
and the new life it shall bring.
Bless us on Mid-winter day
to live enlightened in every way.

Imbolc

Blessing for the cross-quarter sabbat of Imbolc. This is a fire festival and a time for dedication and purification. We celebrate the triple goddess, Brigid. Even after the Roman Catholics banned all pagan ways, she was so firmly loved that she was absorbed into Christianity. You can look up on a clear night and see her in the constellation called Orion. The meaning of "brigid" is "Fiery Arrow". Blessed be to all. FW

Mighty Brighid, keeper of the flame,
blazing in the darkness of winter.
O goddess, we honor you, bringer of light,
healer, exalted one.
Bless us now, hearth mother,
that we may be as fruitful as the soil itself,
and our lives abundant and fertile.

Candle Magick

With the approach of Imbloc you may want to have yourself a candle ritual. Imbloc is also commonly referred to as Candlemas. This is one of our greater Sabbats. A candle ritual can be as simplistic or complicated as you make it. I would suggest that you take a purification bath prior to the commencement of your ritual. Consecrate your candle. Cleansing and consecration of your candle is a very important step and should not be omitted. Dress your candle. By that I mean anoint it with your favorite imbolc oil. To make imbloc oil use 1/8 base oil with 3 drops ginger; 2 drops Clove; 1 drop Rosemary and 1 drop Cypress. Remember your first birthday when you were told to close your eyes and make a wish. The principle of candle magick remains the same.

The Witches Creed

Hear now the words of the witches,
The secrets we hid in the night,
When dark was our destiny's pathway,
That now we bring forth into light.

Mysterious water and fire,
The earth and the wide-ranging air,
By hidden quintessence we know them,
And will and keep silent and dare.

The birth and rebirth of all nature,
The passing of winter and spring,
We share with the life universal,
Rejoice in the magical ring.

Four times in the year the Great Sabbat
Returns, and the witches are seen
At Lammas and Candlemas dancing,
On May Eve and old Hallowe'en.

When day-time and night-time are equal,
When sun is at greatest and least,
The four Lesser Sabbats are summoned,
And Witches gather in feast.

Thirteen silver moons in a year are,
Thirteen is the coven's array.
Thirteen times at Esbat make merry,
For each golden year and a day.

The power that was passed down the age,
Each time between woman and man,
Each century unto the other,
Ere time and the ages began.
When drawn is the magical circle,
By sword or athame of power,
Its compass between two worlds lies,
In land of the shades for that hour.
This world has no right then to know it.

And world of beyond will tell naught.
The oldest of Gods are invoked there,
The Great Work of magic is wrought.

For the two are mystical pillars,
That stand at the gate of the shrine,
And two are the powers of nature,
The forms and the forces divine.

The dark and the light in succession,
The opposites each unto each,
Shown forth as a God and a Goddess:
Of this our ancestors teach.

By night he's the wild winds rider,
The Horn'd One, the Lord of the Shades.
By day he's the King of the Woodland,
The dweller in green forest glades.

She is youthful or old as she pleases,
She sails the torn clouds in her barque,
The bright silver lady of midnight,
The crone who weaves spells in the dark.

The master and mistress of magic,
That dwell in the deeps of the mind,
Immortal and ever-renewing,
With power to free or to bind.

So drink the good wine to the Old Gods,
And Dance and make love in their praise,
Till Elphame's fair land shall receive us
In peace at the end of our days.

And Do What You Will be the challenge,
So be it Love that harms none,
For this is the only commandment.
By Magic of old, be it done!

My Rose...

Rose

My Familiar, Maggie.

My Familiar, Maggie.
Maggie (A Magpie.) is my familiar. She fell out of a tree when she found life and I raised her with an eye dropper and soaked, dry dog food. She lived her entire life with me and she was never, ever caged. She never flew away and I had her for many years. Maggie remains with me in spirit to this very day. - Father Witch

Your magickal name

    Choose the Perfect Name

  1. Step 1

Do not share your Wiccan name with outsiders. A magickal name should be reserved for rituals and as a way of identifying yourself to other Wiccans in your coven. Some Wiccans do not share their names at all, reserving them for direct communication with the deities.

  2. Step 2

Research different names and their meanings. You can use baby books to learn what names mean.

  3. Step 3

Select a name that represents a characteristic you have or are aiming for. This can be done directly or in a more subtle way. If you're aiming for strength, for example, you can choose the name "Iron Maiden" or select the Gaelic name "Bry," which means noble and strong.

  4. Step 4

Pay attention to signs. Wiccans believe you can sometimes receive your name through dreams, visions or special occurrences. By being open to the possibility, it is more likely that you won't miss the sign when it comes.

  5. Step 5

Ask for help in selecting a name. If you belong to a coven, the high Priestess may help you in choosing your magickal name by guiding you through a ritual.

  6. Step 6

Take care in choosing the name of a goddess. If you decide to choose the name of a goddess, do so in hopes of becoming a reflection of her. Keep in mind, however, that you may inherit both the good and the bad side of the goddess' personality.
